Cortisone injections, Yes or No?

Cortisone is a hormone that is produced by the adrenal cortex. It is also made synthetically for use as an anti-inflammatory and anti-allergy agent. Cortisone injections may relieve pain and inflammation in a specific part of the body. They are most commonly injected into a joint, such as the knee or the elbow.

A lot of people will ask if they should get a Cortisone injection. The answer to this question, really depends on your symptoms.

If your injury is acute with a lot of inflammation, then a cortisone injection may be appropriate for you. This is because the injection may reduce the inflammation and give you some pain relief.

However, if you have been dealing with an issue that is more chronic, a cortisone injection may not be the answer. It may give you some pain relief, but it won't fix the issue causing the irritation.

It is important to find the root cause of the irritation or pain. If you do not take care of the problem from the root cause, the pain or irritation could return.
